It is used to transfer heat between refrigerant vapor leaving the evaporator on the low pressure side of the system and liquid refrigerant leaving the condenser on the high pressure side of the system. The prime objective is to increase the capacity of system refrigeration and prevent possible compressor damage due to left out liquid in vapor stream.
